1. Introduction
Aeon Technologies (“Aeon”, “we”, “us”) builds and operates Aeonzap — a platform for running modern ecommerce businesses. Aeonzap is made up of two main parts: Studio, the dashboard merchants use to manage their store, and Engine, the storefront runtime that serves shoppers. These terms cover both, plus our marketing site, documentation, marketplace, SDKs, and any other services we offer under the Aeonzap brand (together, the “Service”).
By signing up, accessing the dashboard, or using any part of the Service, you accept these terms. If you’re using Aeonzap on behalf of a business, you confirm that you have the authority to bind that business to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.
2. Eligibility
To use Aeonzap you must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into binding contracts. You must not be a person with whom dealing is prohibited under Indian law, any applicable sanctions regime (including UN, US OFAC, UK, or EU lists), or the laws of your country of residence.
We may decline service, or close an existing account, if we reasonably believe these eligibility requirements aren’t met.
3. Your account
You should keep one account per business. The email address you register with becomes your primary login, and you’re responsible for keeping that email and any passwords, API keys, or session tokens confidential.
Everything done through your account is treated as done by you. If you suspect unauthorised access, rotate your credentials from the dashboard immediately and tell us at security@aeonzap.com. We’ll help you investigate and lock down the account.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Aeonzap to:
- Sell goods or services that are illegal under Indian law or the laws of the country you’re selling into.
- Commit fraud, run payment-card testing, or launder funds.
- Send spam, unsolicited bulk messages, or transactional email to people who haven’t opted in.
- Infringe anyone’s copyright, trademark, patent, or other intellectual property rights.
- Distribute malware, exploit kits, phishing material, or any content that compromises the security of others.
- Sell adult content, regulated weapons, or controlled substances, unless you’ve agreed a specific arrangement with us in writing.
- Attempt to disrupt the Service, bypass rate limits, or access data that doesn’t belong to you.
We don’t enjoy policing — but when something obviously breaks these rules, we’ll suspend the store and contact you. Serious or repeated violations can lead to permanent termination.
5. Your content
You own your stuff. The products you list, the photos and copy you upload, your customer database, your brand assets, and the content of orders placed on your store remain yours. We don’t claim ownership of any of it.
So that we can actually run the Service for you, you grant Aeon Technologies a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, transmit, render, index, and display your content — but only to the extent necessary to operate Aeonzap, provide support, generate backups, and improve the platform. The licence ends when your content is deleted or your account is terminated, except for backups kept for the periods described in section 10.
6. Payments to merchants
When a shopper buys from your store, the transaction is between you and that shopper. Aeon Technologies is not a party to it. Aeonzap routes the payment to a payment processor you connect — for example Razorpay, Cashfree, Stripe, or PayU — and funds settle from that processor directly to your bank account on their terms.
That means you’re responsible for:
- Fulfilling the order to the customer.
- Refunds, partial refunds, and chargebacks.
- Collecting and remitting GST and any other applicable taxes on the goods or services sold.
- Issuing tax invoices that comply with the law of the jurisdiction you sell from.
- Honouring your store’s own published policies (shipping, returns, warranty).
We’ll do our best to make the tooling for all of that easy — but the legal relationship with the buyer is yours.
7. Pricing
Aeonzap is currently free to use. There’s no trial timer, no credit-card-on-file requirement, and no surprise fee waiting at the end of the month.
We’ll introduce paid plans in the future. When we do, we will give every existing account at least 30 days’ advance notice by email and an in-dashboard banner before any charge is made. Your existing data and store stay fully accessible during that notice period, and if you decide paid plans aren’t for you, you can export everything and close the account before billing starts.
8. GST and taxes
When pricing is introduced, the prices we publish will be exclusive of Goods and Services Tax unless we say otherwise on the pricing page. GST will be added at the rate prescribed under Indian law at the time of invoicing, and we’ll issue a tax invoice showing our GSTIN, the supply details, and the amount of tax charged.
If you are a business outside India, we’ll collect the tax identifiers we need to apply zero-rated or reverse-charge treatment correctly.
9. Service availability
We aim for 99.9% monthly uptime across the Engine (the part that serves shoppers). Planned maintenance windows are announced in advance at status.aeonzap.com and don’t count toward downtime.
We don’t offer a contractual SLA at this stage — once we do, the terms of the SLA will be linked from the pricing page and will sit alongside (not replace) these terms. Until then, the targets above describe what we work toward, not a legally binding commitment.
10. Data and backups
We take encrypted backups of merchant databases at least once a day, with point-in-time recovery on critical tables. Backups are retained for 30 days.
You can export your store data — products, customers, orders, discount codes — from the dashboard at any time as CSV or JSON. If you’d like a full database dump, email support@aeonzap.com and we’ll arrange it.
11. Privacy
How we handle personal data is covered in detail in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
12. Intellectual property
Aeon Technologies owns the Aeonzap platform code, the Studio and Engine product designs, the marketing site, the Aeonzap name, the Aeonzap logo, and any other branding we put on the Service. None of that is licensed to you beyond your right to use the Service while your account is active.
Some parts of the platform — particularly themes, SDKs, and documentation — are open-source and ship under their own licences (typically Apache 2.0 or MIT). Those licences continue to apply on their own terms and aren’t restricted by this section.
13. Termination
You can close your account from the dashboard at any time. We can also terminate the relationship at any time, on reasonable notice, if we’re no longer offering the Service or if you’ve materially breached these terms.
After termination, we’ll keep your account in a read-only state for 30 days so that you can log in and export your data. After that, the account and the content in it are deleted, except for records we’re required to keep for tax or legal reasons (see section 10 and the Privacy Policy).
14. Limitation of liability
Aeonzap is provided “as is”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Aeon Technologies’ total aggregate liability arising out of or related to these terms, or your use of the Service, is limited to the greater of:
- the fees you have paid to Aeon Technologies in the 12 months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim; or
- ₹10,000 (Indian Rupees ten thousand).
We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages — including lost revenue, lost profits, lost data, or business interruption — even if we’ve been told they might occur. Nothing in this section limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
15. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Aeon Technologies, its directors, employees, and contractors harmless from any claim, demand, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of:
- The products or services you sell on your Aeonzap store.
- Disputes between you and your customers — including refund, fulfilment, warranty, and product-liability claims.
- Your violation of any law, regulation, or third-party right (including IP rights) in connection with your store.
- Your breach of these terms or our Acceptable Use rules.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of India, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. The courts at Mumbai, Maharashtra have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute that the parties cannot resolve informally within 30 days of written notice. The parties agree to attempt good-faith resolution first; failing which, disputes shall be referred to arbitration by a sole arbitrator appointed by Aeon Technologies under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, seated in Mumbai and conducted in English.
17. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we make a material change, we’ll give you at least 30 days’ notice by email to the address on your account and by a notice in the dashboard. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page always shows the current version, and previous versions are kept in our public changelog.
If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, you’ve accepted the new version. If you don’t agree, close the account within the notice period and export your data.
